Belfast Higashi Karate Kai was formed in 1979. The club started with two green belts and an orange belt. Over 25 years it has built to two - 4th Dans, two - 3rd Dans, two - 2nd Dans and 10 - 1st Dans. It has always respected the traditional views of Karate.

Todays Instructors have been training with the club since its earliest days. To help maintain their high standards, they have travelled extensively to train under the Higashi Chief Instructor, Peter Spanton who began training under top Wado Ryu Instructor, Mr. Tatsuo Suzuki in the B.K.A. in 1965.

Our pedigree has meant that Belfast Higashi has won many big competitions and has members that have represented Northern Ireland at Senior and Under-21 level.

We celebrate 25 years in existence this year. We intend to have a year long celebration with activities for both our junior and senior club members.

To mark the occasion we have coupled our celebrations with our favourite charity the NSPCC and together we intend donating all the revenue generated by our numerous events to this worthy cause. We are also seeking sponsors in relation to our fundraising and for the Club.

See our Events page for more details.
